Practice
Say it out loud: a ten-minute habit
A small daily routine that moves your sentences from page to mouth.
Reading a sentence is not the same as saying it. Your mouth needs its own practice. So give it ten minutes a day.
The routine
- Pick one sentence pattern you are learning.
- Write five sentences with it. Make them about your own life.
- Say each one out loud, twice. Slowly first, then at normal speed.
- Record one of them on your phone. Listen back.
- Tomorrow, keep the pattern and change one word in each sentence.
Why your own life
A sentence about your real day sticks. A sentence from a worksheet fades. If you will say it to a real person someday, practise it as that person.
Small and daily. Out loud.
If you are not sure which pattern to start with, write to me and we will pick one.
